Father Says Goodbye to 9-Month Old Twins After Chemical Weapon Attack in Syria! Read the Heartbreaking Story Here!

Six years of war has torn Syria apart. Violent reactions to peaceful protests throughout the country plunged Syria into chaos in early 2011. Syrian children and families have borne the brunt of the conflict’s disastrous consequences. Hundreds of thousands have been killed and more than half of the population — 11 million people — have been displaced from their homes.

Recently, another heartbreaking tragedy happened when a suspected chemical attack occurred in Khan Sheikhoun, Idlib, Syria. The death counts for the suspected chemical attack reached 72 already as of April 5 after the one of the deadliest assault in the country’s civil war.

A father living in the area, Abdul-Hamid Alyousef was captured holding in each arm his 9-months old twins, Aya and Ahmed and holding back his tears, saying, “Say goodbye, baby, say goodbye.” It was his cousin, Alaa, who filmed his farewell to his young ones. Aside from the twins, Alyousef also lost his wife and other relatives.

“They were conscious at first, but 10 minutes later we could smell the odor,” he narrated. Alyousef said he carried the twins and his wife outside when the airstrike happened.

“I couldn’t save anyone, they’re all dead now,” he added. He brought his wife to paramedics and went back to look for the other relatives, but he found his brother, two nephews, niece and neighbors already dead. He was then told that his children and wife didn’t make it.

According to Alaa, Abdul-Hameed is now being treated after being exposed to toxins and that he is in a very bad shape. “But he’s especially broken down over his massive loss,” she said.

It is clear that the war is not leading to anything good as it victimizes innocent people who, instead of living a normal life, are living in fear of their lives and losing their loved ones.
